L Squared Announced Sale of Teaching Strategies to Summit Partners

Newport Beach, CA. – May 15, 2018 – L Squared Capital Partners (“L Squared”) is pleased to announce that it has closed on the sale of Teaching Strategies.  Teaching Strategies is the leading provider of early childhood educational resources, including curriculum and web-based assessment products.

Teaching Strategies was L Squared’s first platform investment, made in October 2014.  L Squared oversaw a variety of initiatives during its ownership period including the selection of an entirely new senior management team, the acquisition and integration of a key add-on investment, introducing a number of successful new products, and a major expansion of the sales and marketing efforts.

Teaching Strategies provides an essential product to the early childhood education sector helping millions of young children develop in their all-important early childhood years. We are very proud of our investment in this company and particularly pleased that we were partnered with an outstanding senior executive team led by CEO Kai-lee Berke.  Kai-lee, a former early childhood educator herself, led the company to more than doubling EBITDA during our ownership.   Kai-lee and her team, including President and COO Ashley Mathis, and Chief Financial Officer Heather O’Shea, were each instrumental in helping the company achieve this tremendous outcome for all of the investors. L Squared Capital Partners is delighted to have had the opportunity to see the growth and expansion of Teaching Strategies during our ownership.
